Why Care Tech

Non-medical Home Care

Home Care providers are expanding substantially across the country to accommodate the growing senior presence. Providers are looking for ways to engage patients & caregivers in meaningful ways. Care Technology Systems allows Electronic Care Notes – not only do the Notes help providers to maintain an electronic log of their caregivers’ activities, but they also provide a means to establish ongoing communications with the families so that they can feel secure that their loved one is being properly looked after.

How It Works

QuietResponse™

QuietResponse™ uses equipment similar to a burglar alarm to sense when someone enters or leaves a room. Your loved one simply lives life as he or she always has. If something seems out of the ordinary, the system will generate the appropriate alert, by text, e-mail or to a call center.

Alerts

Alerts may be sent to a designated family member, caregiver, trusted neighbor or our call center, depending on the threat to their well-being. As warranted, more serious incidents can be escalated to local emergency services. In addition to our Fall Detection Logic that assists them when they are not able to help themselves, we also include a panic button when they want to initiate the call for assistance. With QuietResponse™, your loved one remains happily in their home without any change in routine, and you can relax knowing that your loved one is safe and secure even when you’re not there.

Fall Detection

Fall Detection by Logic, or FDL, is a patent pending process that allows for intuitive detection of falls without a need for the user to wear a device. The process is enabled is enabled only during evening/sleep hours, which is statistically the most common time for seniors to fall. The process works by watching the senior’s status in bed. When the senior gets out of bed, the system begins a 20 minute countdown timer to allow them plenty of time to take care of business and then return to bed. At the end of the 20 minutes, if the senior has not returned to bed, we may have a fall…or we may have a midnight snack going on. The good news is that the system can tell the difference. If the senior is not back in bed at the end of 20 minutes, the system then polls each of the home’s motion detectors to look for motion that the senior has chosen to stay up. The system also monitors the home’s perimeter doors. So if the senior has not left the house, has not returned to bed and no movement is detected, logically we can deduce that a fall has occurred and the system will generate an escalated alert to the Call Center.

Biometric Monitoring

For post-discharge or chronic care patients, Care Technology offers a variety of biometric devices, including a blood pressure cuff, weight scales, glucometer and pulse oximeter. All of these devices connect through wireless Bluetooth, making the experience seamless and easy. Results are charted and can be made available to a practitioner, case manager or provider.
